The museum's President and Curator, Tom Nye, goes through a short history of City Island from is origins to current day, touching on the environment, churches, schools, and economy, and particularly focusing on the history of city island's boat yards and nautical industry.
The America’s Cup, Past and Present
This is the fifth and final City Island Nautical Museum 2021 Winter Web Series webinar with Dick Sadler and Tom Nye. Dick Sadler was on Ted Turner’s crew when Courageous (built on City Island) successfully defended the America's Cup in 1977. Museum President, Tom Nye, holds a wealth of knowledge about the boat yards on City Island that used to build, service, and repair our America's Cup yachts. The two discuss the yachts built on City Island at the start of the America's Cup, the second win in 1977 for the boat Courageous, and the America's Cup races of today.
