The Office and Main Hall
The main hall is filled with paintings and photographs by local artists, as well as rotating exhibits covering different subjects. A section is devoted to the America’s Cup and City Island’s role in that event over the years. A small rowing pram built at the Robert Jacob Shipyard in the 1930s is on display in the foyer, where there are also gift-shop display cases featuring books and objects for sale.
Most of the Museum’s business is conducted in the old Principal’s Office, where display cases feature antique shipbuilding tools used in the old City Island shipyards. The office walls are covered with photographs of yachts built or serviced here; one wall has a large collage featuring all aspects of the island’s yacht-building industry.
