| Shipyards, sail lofts, yachts, and the people behind them are all honored here. Historical photographs, memorabilia, and artifacts fill the room and tell the story of City Island’s rich nautical past. Also on display are sailmakers' and shipbuilders’ tools, several ship models, and some vintage outboard motors. Of particular interest in the Barstow skiff from the 1920s, the Buchman sailing canoe from the early 1930s, and an unfinished wooden boat made by Adolph Juner. A growing videotape library includes many nautical and yachting subjects featuring City Island, yachts built on the Island, and the America’s Cup. These may be viewed on the VCR in the School Room. |
